- Field Trip – Field Trip is tomorrowTuesday, May 14th! We will be going to the Cascade Raptor Center in Eugene.
- NEW Morning Arrival Process – Starting tomorrow, May 14ththere will be no early recess before school begins. Bus riders will wait in the gym until they are dismissed at 8:50 for class. The front doors will be opened no early than 8:45 for students who are dropped off, walk, or ride their bikes. These students will wait in the hallway until 8:50 when they will be excused to class. Breakfast students will go to the cafeteria to eat. Breakfast eaters will stay in the cafeteria until 8:50 and will then be dismissed back to class. More information will be going home today.

The 2nd grade carnival basket theme is “Chocolate/Coffee/Tea Lovers.” If you have any items to donate to the basket, please have your child bring the items to school. We are also collecting junk food for our “Junk Food Walk.” If you have any junk food to donate, please bring it to the school.
- Mileage club – Liberty’s Mileage Club started last week with much success. Most 2nd graders are spending their lunch recess running laps around the track! You are welcome to come and join them from 12:00 – 12:20 as they run their laps.

- Accelerated Reader (A.R.) – Information regarding A.R. will be coming home this week. A.R. is one of our school wide reading measures for comprehension.

- P.E. Shoes – Please have your child wear their P.E. shoes on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Students will be asked to sit out if they are not wearing appropriate shoes.
- Early Release – October Early Release days are Oct. 10th, 17th, 24th, and 31st. Students will be dismissed at 2:30. If your child will be going home a different way on early release days, please send a note.

- Cancer Awareness – Tomorrow, October 2nd, students are encouraged to wear yellow in recognition of Live Strong day to support cancer awareness.

- Word Study Assessments –Thank you for working with your child at home on these words. A new word study list will come home each week. Students will be tested at the end of the week.
- Solar System – Students have been learning about the solar system. I encourage you to ask them questions about what they know. Last week we learned about the phases of the moon. Watch for a waxing moon this week and a full moon this weekend.

- Lap-a-thon – This year’s lap-a-thon will be Friday, September 28th. All students will get to participate in this event. Please remember to dress your child in appropriate clothing and appropriate shoes. All proceeds will benefit our school. The lap-a-thon prizes are on the Liberty website. The lap-a-thon theme is Olympics. Your child is encouraged to wear red, white, and blue.

- Student Teacher –Miss Trower is currently a student at Western Oregon University. She will be doing her practicum in our classroom this fall. She is happy to be working with our students and we are lucky to have her in our room!
